Story:You are familiar with the feeling. You are sitting as cool as a cucumber trying to make your point, at home or at work, but you are seething inside. Either because there's a lot on your mind or because of the opposition you face - aggression on the road journey, tiff with family members or passive aggressive tone of your colleague. Review:'Breakroom' as it's called in Gurugram, Haryana, allows you to go beserk. You are even offered a choice between a cricket and a baseball bat to use as your 'weapon' of choice! Customers are provided with safety gear before they go on a 15-minute-long spree to destroy the plates, cups, computers, and television sets kept in a room.
Psychiatrist Dr Sagar Mundada believes the concept may be a healthy option because "it might prevent people from taking out their rage in the real world, on people and things". But just going to anger rooms is not enough. "These people need to ask, themselves why they are so angry. We are living in an emotionally-charged world, where we want to control everything, but things keep slipping away because it's not humanly possible to control everything."
Dr Gail Saltz, a professor of clinical psychiatry, believes that people should find practical ways to calm themselves eventually, like deep breathing, muscle relaxation techniques etc. "You can't keep punching things all the time."
